How to Create and Set Home Page

Please follow these instructions to create your home page and set to be front page of your site.

  1. Create a new page (i.e. Home)
  2. Choose ‘Home Page‘ to be template of this page
  3. Go to Settings > Reading
  4. Change Front page displays section to show static page and choose your page (Home) to be your front page

How to choose home page slider

Candidate includes premium plugin Slider Revolution. It is required by theme and it is offered to you to install plugin when you activated our theme. Plugin’s Documentation is included in main package, too, and can be found in folder entitled ‘docs‘. You can find demo sliders on site dedicated to this plugin.

When you create your slider, go to Candidate Options > Home Page Options. By default, this page will be shown without slider (No Slider). Home Page Slider dropdown will contain names of existing sliders on your site (beside default value). Please check following image:

As you can see on image, available sliders (on our example site) are:

  1. Box
  2. Full
  3. Main
  4. Seventh
  5. Wide

If ‘No Slider‘ is selected, following dropdown – ‘Home Page Slider Type‘ – won’t be shown.

Chosen value from Home Page Slider Type dropdown controls position of slider on home page. There are three possible choices:

  1. Full – it will be above navigation and it will be 100% wide slider
  2. Wide – it will be above navigation and it will be as wide as content area
  3. Box – it will be below navigation (inside main content area) and it will be stretched above both main content and sidebar

NOTE1: If you chose boxed slider, please use “Auto Responsive” layout with grid width 1140px.
NOTE2: For wide, choose “Auto Responsive” layout with 1170 grid width.
NOTE3: For full, choose “Auto Responsive” layout with 1170 grid width and enable “Force Full Width”.

Beside slider, you will be able to show following sections on your home page:

  1. Latest Posts
  2. Specific Categories
  3. Static Text
  4. Testimonials
  5. Albums

Please note that you will be able to make your own order of sections which will match your needs perfectly. You also can show all available sections or just one of them!

Order of sections – Home Page Layout

Use drag-and-drop to make your desirable home page layout.

Above example shows how to create home page layout with sections in this order:

  1. Latest Posts
  2. Testimonials
  3. Albums

Bottom line: only sections from box entitled ‘enabled‘ will be shown on home page.

Latest Posts

These settings will be used ONLY if you put ‘Latest posts‘ in ‘Enabled‘ box of Home Page Layout section.

You can set title for this home page area or leave it blank if you don’t want it.

You can choose 1-5 posts to be shown. They will be in descending date order. Please note that sticky posts will have priority!

If you also chose to show posts from specific categories on home page (explained in next paragraph), posts from chosen categories will be skipped in this section of home page.

Specific Categories

These settings will be used ONLY if you put ‘Specific‘ in ‘Enabled‘ box of Home Page Layout section.

You can set title for this home page area or leave it blank if you don’t want it.

You can choose 1-5 posts to be shown. They will be in descending date order.

If you chose to show posts from specific categories on home page, posts from chosen categories will be skipped in ‘Latest Posts‘ section of home page.

Static Text

These settings will be used ONLY if you put ‘Static Text‘ in ‘Enabled‘ box of Home Page Layout section.

You can set title for this home page area or leave it blank if you don’t want it.

This is pretty much the same as regular page editing, except we put it in here to have everything organized on one place.

Testimonials

These settings will be used ONLY if you put ‘Testimonials‘ in ‘Enabled‘ box of Home Page Layout section.

You can set title for this home page area or leave it blank if you don’t want it.

You can show up to 5 testimonials and you can show them in descending date order or randomly.

Albums

These settings will be used ONLY if you put ‘Albums‘ in ‘Enabled‘ box of Home Page Layout section.

You can set title for this home page area or leave it blank if you don’t want it.

You can show 3, 4 or 6 albums and you can show them in descending date order or randomly. If you choose to show 4 albums, they will be ordered in 4 columns , otherwise, 3 columns will be shown (1 row for 3 albums and 2 rows for 6 albums)
